It is possible to visit the atelier, the workshop and a part of the Scassa Collection, as part of consultations adapted to one or more people. Accompanied along the way means being able to further knowledge and explore a real art workshop, still in operation today as an important historical memory in the heart of Piedmont.

There is the opportunity to see the ancient looms in a range of sizes, with the tapestries currently being worked, along with creations produced in recent years by Arazzeria Scassa.

A visit to the atelier allows an understanding of the history of the tapestry, the value of the art of weaving and the expressive and aesthetic originality of a production inspired by a pre-existing work, be it a cartoon or painting, which is always a creative reworking.

The Arazzeria Scassa can be visited by appointment only and each visit lasts about an hour and a half.

The visiting path allows you to access the Loggia of the ancient Certosa of Valmanera and visit the Arazzeria Scassa atelier, closely observing the high heddle looms of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, used for the creation of tapestries and carpets and the raw materials used for the various processes, including the restoration and conservation of woven works. Cultural Association

Under the leadership of the Massimo Bilotta – the Director and Ugo Scassa’s nephew – the tapestry atelier has become a Cultural Association able to share the culture and knowledge of the artform.

The great artistic heritage of the Arazzeria thus becomes a promoter of encounters in a virtuous communion of tasks and commitments aimed at enhancing not only tapestry but art, culture and knowledge in general. The life of the Association foresees an entire series of initiatives and a range of collaborations with artistic projects at various levels, in the belief that speaking different artistic languages – from ancient to modern, figurative to abstract – and combining various forms of art represent the best and most favourable way to return to discover our humanity.

Events

Over time, Arazzeria Scassa has welcomed and organised cultural events both nationally and internationally. In the two-year 2020–2021 period, the company was distinguished by a series of encounters held online, of great value and importance.

The events had and will continue to have the task of preserving and exhibiting the Scassa Collection, to promote an awareness of contemporary arts, to present the creative and technical results along with the development, innovation and application in various field of the arts, in the interest of sharing the ideas and emotions of artists and the public alike. Artists from abroad have been involved and will be included even more in the future, creating a fundamental meeting point.
